My Pets
Technically I have one dog, his name is Macy. Macy is a 5-pound Yorkie, full grown, and I love him very much. We adopted Macy just before Christmas when I was seven, and now I’m eighteen. His full name is Macy Apples Pierce; I got to choose the middle name since I technically earned him by scoring a goal in every soccer game I played during that fall. But my whole life I’ve been surrounded by animals. Growing up my neighbors—who are really like family—had pets too. I loved them like my own pets and I got to see them every day when Jo (my neighbor) would babysit my sister and me. They had a cat named Skeeter (who hated me, but I loved him), a cat named K.C. (for kitty cat), and a loving gold retriever named Maggie. These were my first pets, even though they weren’t technically mine. These animals were mine since day one since Jo babysat me starting when I was only a few weeks old. I’ve never had a cat myself and I may never have one, but I was able to feel like I did because of my neighbors. Skeeter, K.C., and Maggie have all passed away, but I will never forget them. Today my neighbors have 4 dogs (Charlie, Penny, Bella, and Blake) and 2 cats (Chase and Donovan) between Jo and her daughters. I am still close with Jo and her family and all of their current animals are adorable as well. Maggie was so kind and loving and had a very sweet personality which I now see in Bella. Chase and Donovan don’t hate me as much as Skeeter did, but K.C. and Donovan do have certain similarities. Like I’ve said, technically I have only had one pet, but I have cared for all of Jo’s animals since day one.
